    1. Combining 2 or more technologies together.

  2. Computer Terms
    1. Digital storage is expressed in bytes.
      • Kilobyte--1,000 bytes
      • Megabyte--1,000,000 bytes
      • Gigabyte--1,000,000,000 bytes
      • Terabyte--1,000,000,000,000 bytes
  3. Central Processing Unit (CPU)
    1. CPUs are the brains of the computer
    2. The better the processor the faster it is.
  4. Local Area Network (LAN)
    1. Shared server, hardware, printer, can communicate with each other.
    2. Our lab is a LAN.
  5. Random-Access Memory (RAM)
    1. Temporary memory in a computer (the operating system).
  6. Read-Only Memory (ROM)
    1. Permanent memory in a computer (the operating system).
  7. Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
    1. Computer takes control and makes products.

Standard 4

  1. Orthographic Projection
    1. A way to represent a 3-D object in 2-D.
    2. If it shows several views (3-D).
  2. Perspective
    1. The appearance of an area as if you were looking at it.
  3. Graph
    1. Shows info visually.
  4. Sequence Diagram
    1. Shows the order or steps of how to do something.

  1. Integrated Circuit
    1. Contains hundreds of parts.
    2. A complex set of electronic components that are on a tiny slice of semi conducting material.
  2. Circuit Breaker
    1. Protects houses, schools, and all buildings with electricity from an electrical overload.
  3. Conductor
    1. Carries electricity

  4. Reciprocating
    1. A back and forth, or up and down, motion which repeats over and over again.
  5. Rotary Motion.
    1. Motion that goes in a circle.
  6. Oscillating Motion
    1. Motion that moves along a path that we set, then returns along the same path.
  7. Hydraulic System
    1. Machines and tools which use fluid or oil.
  8. Pneumatics
    1. Use air to work.
  9. MEchanical Design
    1. Using the design cycle to build machines.
  10. Triangles
    1. Makes the most solid structure.
  11. Occupational Safety an d Healthy Administration.
    1. A government department that inspects houses, schools, and all buildings to make sure they are safe.
  12. Composite Materials
    1. Made from 2 or more materials.
  13. Thermoplastic
    1. Material that is plastic.
    2. When it's hot, it melts so it can be formed.
    3. When it's cold, it becomes strong.
  14. Alloy
    1. 2 metals mixed together to create a new material.
  15. Casting
    1. Melting metal, glass, or plastic, and pouring it into a mold.
    2. when it's cool, it becomes a solid object.
  16. Dynamic Load
    1. When the load/weight changes.
  17. Shearing
    1. Cutting metal.
  18. Torsion
    1. Twisting.
  19. Pressing
    1. Applying pressure
  20. Bending
    1. Taking a straight object and curving it.
  21. Construction Technology
    1. The building of something
  22. Communication Technology
    1. Using technology to communicate.
